"Change occurs when one becomes what one is, not when one tries to become what one is not." Arnold Beisser - The Paradoxical Theory of Change
My approach to coaching
My coaching is about helping people connect or reconnect with who they truly are and to fulfill their potential in their life or work. I use a range of support, challenge and exercises to support growth and challenge and overcome any limiting beliefs clients may have and which form barriers to change. I have a holistic approach and draw on a variety of theoretical bases and use a range of tools and activities to support people in their development.
"The Coaching sessions have provided a focus for me to explore a number of issues associated with transition to a new role. Liz and I have a really good rapport and I find her to be a warm and empathetic professional." Client feedback
My inspiration to become a coach
I have always worked in educational settings, encouraging learning and development. I love to see people change and develop as they discover that they can achieve things they had not previously believed they could. Coaching gives me the opportunity to work with you and give you time and space to explore who you truly are in relation to areas of your life and work and who you want to be.
One of the delights for me is those ‘lightbulb’ moments when people realise they can do something or may even already be doing it in another part of their life but hadn’t seen they could transfer it from home to work or vice versa. My passion is to enable people to find their way forward in life or work and to feel confident, creative and fullfill their potential.
"Liz has helped me to plan our sessions to address issues we have identified together and with specific outcomes in mind. Coaching has provided me with an opportunity for purposeful and supported reflection. The work during the session helps me to recognise , and then challenge, certain thought processes which are underpinned by limiting beliefs." Client feedback

I was given invaluable practical help regarding the design and content of my curriculum vitae and interview preparation. She is sensitive to her clients' needs and is understanding in stressful situations; she is both professional and supportive in her approach. I am nearing retirement age but have secured full time employment which has helped greatly in my general lifestyle and sense of financial security. It is very much thanks to Liz that I find myself in this improved situation." Client Feedback

How I deliver coaching
In each session I do a lot of listening and also I will use a variety of challenging questions, possibly introducing some tools and activities or exercises and we will agree some ’homework’ to continue working on before the next session. I work holistically drawing on some psychological theories such as Gestalt and CBT and action learning and use creative techniques such as vision boards and visualisation. I can also offer some additional on-line or phone support and can arrange a one hour review session after an agreed period. I work face to face, or via Skype, Face Time and telephone.
Clients I work with
Individual adults who wish to make changes
Adults and groups working in Public/Private/Voluntary Sector
I have been a self- employed coach since 2011. My career has been in Education beginning with the statutory sector and schools where I became a head-teacher. I then became ill with ME and had to take early retirement. I moved to Sheffield and took time out seeking help from counselling and other therapies to make changes in my approach to life. I achieved a Certificate in Counselling for Learning and transferred my skills to adult education and training. I have experience of working cross racially and cross culturally having developed adult education and development programmes both in the UK and Internationally, including work around Human Rights and Equality and Community Development.
