It felt comfortable after a while and I actually looked forward to each week. Overall Anne was caring, understanding, honest, and very easy to open up to. I now feel better in myself and the world around me."

"I have wanted to have counselling for a number of years but was never able. After a traumatic illness I was referred, but the timing and place were never right for me. The offer of six free sessions has given me this opportunity and has been invaluable. I truly feel Ian has given me the tools to live my life differently and I feel like it has been an amazing experience that I would wholly recommend."

We received a lot of applications for our 9th bursary and we were able to add an extra bursary which was carried out by Ian Wainwright. The client provided this feedback on his experience of working with Ian.

"Very friendly and I became comfortable very quickly. The sessions addressed my my issues rather than trying to just tick boxes. The counselling helped me a lot by guiding me to my own conclusions and advising me on ways to make negatives from the past into positives lessons".

Counselling Coaching Sheffield Doncaster Online7th Bursary: October 2016 in S11 with Anne Lindley-French
Free Counselling S11 October 2016
We received  6 applicants for this bursary. The client who received the bursary came for 6 sessions of counselling and she has been kind enough to provide this feedback.

"I have tried counselling twice before. I naively thought I would attend a few sessions and I would come out fixed and life would be truly wonderful again, just like it is in the movies or how it was before. How wrong I was! I came out of the sessions feeling worse than before and found the whole experience cold and clinical from the counsellors. Life carried on but I hit a dark, hard brick wall in mid 2016. I needed help but I did not know how to seek it given the failure of counselling before. I was lost, suicidal, broken and thought this is how my life is going to be. I did not want to go back to my GP who did not have the time to listen or just to be put a waiting list, just to be waiting for months to see a counsellor.

I came across an advertisement for Beacon counselling online. At first I never thought much of it but it kept on appearing on my Twitter feed. Instead of skimming over the information like I had previously, I read what Beacon counselling had to offer. Scared and nervous I put in my request for counselling. I never thought I would get a reply. I guess it was fear of rejection.

I was surpised and grateful when I got accepted, but still in the mindset of nothing will change/they won't be able to help me.

My counselling sessions ended this week after six weeks. I am at a place in my life where I can honestly say I am learning, I feel content and the negativity and vicious circle of life before seems so distant. Don't get me wrong, I still have my lows but they are not as bad as before and I deal with them better now. I have made change without realising I have made change and this is down to Anne! There are no words to describe how grateful I am to her. I am sure she will say I have done all the hard work but it would never have been possible without her insight of professionalism, equality, fairness, kindness and care through talking, listening and how she has helped me. What she has taught me is just because you are broken or you think you are damaged you do not have to stay broken or damaged. Anne has become a Hero of mine! I wish there were more people like Anne sprinkled all over the world. The world would be a greater and shinier place for it.

I really hope anyone who is reading this and would like help but is frightened, not hopeful, rejected, suicidal, stuck or just not sure how to get help. Please give Anne's counselling a try. It will change your life for the better.

I hope the bursary continues for as long as possible, as there are a lot of people due to financial difficulty who cannot always afford counselling and need help. It has helped me greatly."

6th Bursary - May 2016
free counselling sheffieldWe received 16 applicants for this bursary and would like to thank everyone who applied, contacted us on behalf of a friend of family member or passed our details on to someone they thought might be interested. Counselling has concluded with the client who received this bursary.

5th Bursary - January 2016
Free Counselling Sheffield January 2016 Beacon Counselling Coaching GroupMuch to our surprise, we only received  3 applicants for the January 2016 bursary. The client who received the bursary came for 6 sessions of counselling and he has been kind enough to provide this feedback.

"When I applied for the counselling I was at a point of crisis, dealing with a lot of issues that had eventually ground me down and forced me to a place of self harm, anger and upset. After my 6 sessions with Anne I feel much better equipped to deal with my life. I feel positive about my future and now that my past has been put into my mind in a way that I can accept and leave behind me, where it belongs.

I would recommend this to anyone. I really thought I was destined to live an extremely unhappy life, and I was extremely sceptical about how effective this could be in just six visits, but life changing would not be an exaggeration, not at all."

 4th Bursary - September 2015
free counselling sheffield

We received 7 applicants for the September 2015 bursary (the most ever, so thanks to everyone for sharing the offer). The bursary was offered to a client who was able to accept the first few appointments, but was unable to complete the sessions due to not being able to travel to the office.

3rd Bursary - May 2015

Following the success of  our January bursary we changed from once a year to a regular event and offered another one in May 2015. However, it looked like we weren't going to be able to give this one away... Then just before the deadline for applications drew to an empty close, a man called whose girlfriend had seen our offer on Twitter. He thought we would have had loads of applicants and there might be little point in applying, but decided to give it a go anyway. We were delighted to get his call and awarded the bursary to him.

2nd Bursary - 2015

Due to the success of our 2014 bursary we decided to award a bursary every year. We began advertising the bursary at the end of 2014, with a closing date for applications at the end of January 2015. This time we were able to offer free counselling to two people who would otherwise not have been able to access therapy. One got in touch on his own behalf and the other on behalf of a family member. One of our clients has kindly provided the feedback below.

"Anne has really helped me tackle a lot of issues and come through with a lot more confidence. Really appreciate all the hard work put in from her."

This experience proved to be so enriching that we decided to award the bursary more frequently than once a year - hence another one in May 2015.

1st Bursary - 2014

In 2014 we advertised our bursary for the first time, but to our surprise and disappointment nobody came forward to use it. At the last minute we were contacted by a lady who was looking for some counselling for her good friend and we were very happy to be able to offer the bursary to her. She has been kind enough to provide the following feedback about her experience.

"I was lucky enough to benefit from the bursary for counselling sessions after the sudden death of my little brother Conor. At this time of incomprehensible loss I was struggling financially and also sceptical that counselling support could offer me anything at all. Without this bursary I'm sure I would never have tried it and realised how much it could help.

Speaking to Anne set aside a much needed period of calm in an otherwise chaotic period of pain and disbelief, in which I could talk about my brother and what a beautiful person he was. There may have been many people more deserving than me who could have benefited from the sessions but I was - and still am - enormously grateful for them.

I'd recommend other people who are hurting, to seek the services of Anne, someone who is kind, intelligent and full of compassion."
